Gong xi! Congratulations!

On Sunday, we had the privilege of going to a traditional Chinese engagement ceremony and wedding. After leaving our hotel room (complete with a heated toilet seat and bidet!) at 6:45am, we went to the bride's house for a tea ceremony.

We drank fertility soup (red bean soup with rice balls), wishing the bride and groom a firstborn son. The groom's family of the bride and groom drank tea the bride's family offered to them.  Then there was a lot of picture taking!

The bride wore four dresses throughout the day. The first one, a gorgeous red dress, was specifically for the tea ceremony. And she got to wear A LOT of jewelry.

Dat ring.
We also ate a traditional sesame wedding cake, chocolate from Spain, and green tea cakes.

Onto the reception! We ate, and ate, and ate a 10 course meal in the swankiest place in Taiwan. Seriously, it was gorgeous. The bride and groom spent the afternoon changing dresses, greeting guests, and barely eating (!!). We watched THE SWEETEST videos of Claire and Wei Wei.

Fun fact: Brides here rent their dresses!

Best of luck to Claire and Wei Wei!

Day 3

I love this photo for three reasons.

1. I love macro/micro (depending on which spectrum of the photo galaxy you're from... I'm personally a fan of BOTH Nikon and Canon, so it's really up to you). Taking close up shots always makes me happy. There's so much detail that can just be lost in a zoomed-out photo. Also, it tends to look neat. =) I'm a girl of simple pleasures when it comes to photography.

2. I love the dress I'm wearing. I got it at Forever21 for $20. It was an impulse buy, but totally worth it in my opinion. It's sort of a tank dress with some ruffles, but the color and the dots are what got me. It's a bright, but not overly bright, blue. It's just a color you don't see too often, and the color was what initially caught my eye. Besides, I'm a Penn State girl through and through, so perhaps I'm predisposed to like blue and white together...

3. My mom got me this ring. I had another one that was similar that I lost a few years ago, and this Christmas she bought me another. I wear it just about every day. It's one of those accessories that you may not realize you left behind that day, but as soon as you do, you flip out, remember it's safe on your dresser, and feel naked the rest of the day.

So I haven't been that great at keeping up with my 30 Day Photo Challenge, but here are some to look forward to in the next few days:
